And then, quite suddenly, amid the turmoil and the grieving, there was a roar that resounded around the whole of the trial room. The students fell silent, almost as if they were about to confront a sort of grand enemy - not unlike a boss battle at the end of the game - and held their breaths in anticipation.
It came, pretty quickly too.
Ripping through the walls at the edge of the trial room as if they were paper, the bear was pitch black and seemed to be about twenty to twenty five feet tall. It lifted Four up by the back of his hoodie, throwing him against the opposing wall. His now frail seeming body hit the wall with a sickening crunch noise, where it lay, suspended for a few seconds in air, before sliding against the metal and hitting the floor.
A sort of glass cage arose around Four and the bear, giving them a large area separated from the students in which the execution was to be carried out. The bear approached Four’s seemingly unconscious body menacingly, saliva dripping from outstretched jaws in the cliche ‘dark scary monster’ type of way.
But, by some small miracle, Four managed to stand up. Pushing himself away from the wall, he rammed his head into the bear’s chest. The creature let out a little barking sound, more one of surprise rather than fear, and flicked its paw deftly towards Four’s face.
With the horrible sound of metal and plastic being torn savagely apart, Four’s mask was torn off.
And revealed the bright pink eyes of a rather petrified boy.
Four glanced over at the students surrounding the death cage, and, almost as if to send some comfort their way even though he was obviously the one in more need of it, flashed a small and hesitant smile.
In that instant of pause, though, chains of whom which seemed to materialize from the ground latched onto Four’s ankles, pulling him onto his knees, where, moments later, more chains sprouted and attached around his wrists. The boy’s pink eyes grew wide and panicked as he desperately pulled at the chains, sweat rolling down his neck in great bullets.
The bear, after sitting back on its haunches and scratching its snout, exploded. In its stead, great plumes of vomit colored gas began filling the chamber. Four’s struggles only became more desperate and frantic at the sight of the gas - after all, his mask had been ripped off and he now no filters nor protection against the obviously poisonous substance.
Suddenly, as if to ruin the mood, Monokuma popped up at the top of the glass cage. Waving down at the fear-stricken students on the other side of the wall. Hauling up a large black and plastic bag, Monokuma began throwing various and seemingly random items into the gas.
Crumpled up pieces of newspaper. Barbeque sauce. Beer bottles, still sealed and ready to be opened. Markers. Coffee mugs. Pens. Video game consoles. Poster boards. Notebooks. Backpacks. Bug spray. Dollar bills, which didn’t make much sense since they lived in Japan. But who knew where in the world they were at the moment.
And then, after seemingly getting bored of its activities, Monokuma lit a match and threw it into the gas. Instantly, all of the gas combusted into flames. A shriek was heard, but was quickly cut off before it even registered in the minds of the students surrounding.
After a while, the fire died down, revealing the smoldering remains of two burned feet stubs, still trapped by the chains that held them captive.
